“Intuition without knowledge is only so valuable. Knowledge without intuition is just a bunch of facts. Knowledge with intuition starts us on our way to wisdom.”                                                                                                                              -Tieraona Low Dog

The Midwifery Model

To Be With Women... & To Support Her In All Her Healthcare Choices

When I think of midwives, I'm reminded of the definition, To Be With Women. To encourage a fellow woman. To read her mind, silently hand her water during birth, to gently impart the wisdom of the generations during pushing, to hold strands of hair back, to encourage the much needed rest during the early postpartum days. There's power in having another woman by your side. Have you felt that before? Maybe it was a doula. Maybe it was a mom or an aunt. The friend that loved you unconditionally. The women in our lives help pass down wisdom, encourage us when the pain is too much to bear, and holds space when there is grief.

I adore women. This rings true to in my soul, whether in the birth room, or over telemedicine encouraging a woman in her health journey. I just adore women, and their hearts. Their strength, and their ability to persevere through all life's journeys. All the seasons of being a woman... so beautiful. I love the image of being a part of a larger group of women, to be a corset for another woman in the moment of need, be it labor, postpartum, with grief, during big health concerns, when there are many tiny children needing one mother, during the wise years... I love my role as part of being WITH women.

Another VITAL belief in Midwifery and in my practice, is standing in the middle as the woman decides the direction of her healthcare. We are to offer information and options. The woman is to tap into her intuition and be the driver. I would be honored to hear your story and support your health journey, whatever that may look like for you.

...looks at the root causes of any given illness or health concerns. This takes time, just as it took time for the ailment to become present. A minimum of 6-12 months is recommended for the beautiful health process to unfold.

Functional Healthcare

Relevant Current Root Causes:

●   Overexposure to chemicals: in the air, food containers, items we touch ●    Poor quality food/nutrient empty "food" consumed   ●   Inability to detoxify     ●   Chronic stress   ●   Food triggers   ●   Gut health imbalances (antibiotics, exposure, misplaced bacteria, stress, etc.  ●   Hormone exposure & lack of excretion   ●   Immune system over/underworking   ●   Energy production and mitochondrial disfunction

We are currently living in a time of record exposure to environment toxins. During pregnancy, this affects the mom as well as the baby. We know this because these chemicals are found in cord blood at birth. Exposure can cause problems in our health or shift us out of balance, and can affect babies in many ways.

"Functional medicine is about causes, not symptoms. It is getting to the root of the problem."                                                                                                                                     -Mark Hymen, Functional MD
